Ballard. Hamer. Juarez.
Three names. Three men whose memories both haunt and inspire the one who survived.
United States Marine Corporal Micah Herndon led a convoy on a mission in Afghanistan on January 9th, 2010. The rear vehicle was hit by an IED (improvised explosive device), resulting in the death of three men: Lance Corporal Matthew Ballard, Lance Corporal Mark D. Juarez and British newspaper reporter Rupert Hamer.
Herndon eventually returned home to Tallmadge, Ohio, but not without PTSD and survivors guilt.
