The Cavaliers still haven’t re-signed Tristan Thompson — and LeBron James is still really wants that to change.
While the Cleveland Cavaliers have had a fantastic offseason, it’s just nearly flawless and not completely so. The most glaring hole in the Cavs offseason is the failure to lock down Tristan Thompson to a new deal. There is a standoff at the moment between whether or not to give hm a max deal — something he wants but the Cavaliers don’t want to hand out.
It’s a standoff that could last until the beginning of the season, which would likely end with Thompson signing a one-year qualifying offer and then leaving in the summer.
