LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment have teamed with acclaimed filmmaker Antoine Fuqua for a multi-part documentary chronicling the life of legendary boxer and activist Muhammad Ali.
Production on the untitled film, which will air exclusively on pay-tv outlet HBO, began Monday.
James’ involvement continues a long-standing appreciate the Akron-native has for the athlete, who eventually became as well known for his feats outside the ring as well as in it.
“It’s tough to put into words how much it means to me to be a part of this project honoring the legacy and telling the extremely important story of the great Muhammad Ali,” James said in a news release.
