Saturday night's matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers was hyped as a star-studded showdown at Staples Center.
However, the defending champions prevented the cross-conference clash from unfolding as expected when they announced LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love would all rest.
According to Cavaliers general manager David Griffin, that decision was not popular among those in the league office.
Speaking to ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne, Griffin said the NBA called him "seven minutes" after the Cavs announced they would rest their stars.
