Kids from LeBron James Family Foundation first to try out Akron’s Piada restaurant, new eatery to open Tuesday

As they pondered the menu, there were helpful servers ready to answer any questions.

One kid asked, “What’s arugula?”

The server was quick with an answer explaining that is a leafy edible plant — sort of like a piece of fancy lettuce.

At lunch on Friday, some kids and their families from the LeBron James Family Foundation were the first in Akron to get a taste of the new Piada Italian Street Food restaurant preparing to open off West Market Street in the new 365 by Whole Food plaza.

The Columbus-based restaurant chain’s Akron location doesn’t officially open until Tuesday but it is training its kitchen and counter staff with special invitation-only preview events over the weekend.
