INDEPENDENCE: Jared Cunningham is back with the Cavaliers, back with the team that drafted him. He was around only a couple of hours three years ago, but at the rate he is progressing, he could stick around much longer this time.
Cunningham has played his way into the conversation for the 15th and final roster spot — provided Tristan Thompson eventually signs. Coach David Blatt conceded Sunday he would prefer to carry a wing for the 15th spot, particularly given the injuries to Iman Shumpert and Kyrie Irving.
Cunningham, 24, enters Monday’s preseason game at Ohio State fresh off a 31-point performance in Thursday’s loss at the Philadelphia 76ers.
