Iman Shumpert needs wrist surgery, expected to miss at least 3 months

INDEPENDENCE: Iman Shumpert needs surgery to repair a right wrist injury and is expected to miss 12 to 14 weeks, the Cavs announced on Tuesday.

Shumpert injured the wrist last week when he hit it on the rim while training, Cavs General Manager David Griffin said. Shumpert informed the Cavs of the issue during Monday’s media day and he went for an MRI, which revealed a ruptured Extensor Carpi Ulnaris sheath in the wrist. He fought shoulder and groin injuries last season and has been plagued with injuries throughout his career.

Shumpert is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday.
