It was definitely a surprise that the Cleveland Cavaliers ended up acquiring Andre Drummond near the 2020 trade deadline in a deal with the Detroit Pistons. That at the time only was in exchange for Brandon Knight, John Henson and a future second-round pick, and those pieces were expiring.
The deal was mostly for the Pistons to offload Drummond, who has a $28.8 million player option decision coming up down the road for next season.
In relation to that, Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor said of potential options for Drummond, whenever the upcoming offseason ultimately is, that Drummond is “most likely” to pick up that option.
