CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Scribbles in my Cleveland Cavaliers notebook about the signing of Derrick Williams:
1. The signing of Derrick Williams gives the Cavs a chance to add a veteran player for up to 20 days. They can give him two 10-day contracts before deciding if they want to keep him for the rest of the season. In the meantime, they can see if they like anyone better via trade. The trade deadline is February 23.
2. The 6-foot-8 Williams was the No. 2 pick in the 2011 draft. Former Cavs general manager Chris Grant picked Kyrie Irving over Williams.
