CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday released a series of updated logos that will debut along with new Nike uniforms in the offseason.
The logos include the addition of the color black as a nod to the turning point of the 2016 NBA Finals when the team wore black sleeved jerseys in Game 5 and Game 7 wins against the Warriors.
Two "shield" style logos are also included, representing the team's commitment to "Defend the Land."
"While the foundation of the Cavaliers brand remains steeped in traditions that link generations of fans, it is important that our brand identity reflects who we are in the present and where we are going in the future," Cavaliers CMO Tracy Marek said in a press release.
