Cleveland Cavaliers needed Dahntay Jones' voice, veteran presence in the locker room, says David Griffin

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- As the NBA playoffs crept closer the Cleveland Cavaliers felt they were missing something.

The concern didn't center on their hapless defense, which they believe will improve with more practice time, being able to lock into one opponent, tightening rotations to create more on-court cohesion and simply playing with more zest each possession. It was something else. Believe or not, it was a veteran presence. Dahntay Jones.

"I think what Dahntay is is the voice we needed in the locker room," general manager David Griffin said Wednesday. "My fault. I think we underestimated the amount that really mattered.
