Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James portrays himself -- and his own life changes in "Trainwreck": Bill Livingston (photos)

CLEVELAND, Ohio –-The role LeBron James plays in the raunchy yet touching new movie "Trainwreck" is both against type and true to it.

The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player and franchise-maker with the Cavaliers plays his role as effortlessly and convincingly as he slam-dunked on Jimmy Fallon on the "Tonight" show earlier this week when he promoted the movie.

James' part is a small one. The sidekick of a New York Knicks orthopedic surgeon, played by Bill Hader, James supports Hader in his relationship with a bad girl waiting to be reformed, Amy Schumer. The supporting role in itself is a twist for James, a player who has been the center of attention on almost any basketball floor he has stepped on since high school in Akron.
