Tavares, who only played in one game for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, has proved that he deserves a roster spot. In his first Las Vegas Summer League game, Tavares put up a team-high 12 points and 8 rebounds. While his second game was not quite as impressive, Tavares still did exactly what was asked of him. He ended with 5 points, two rebounds and two blocks, but his defensive presence was felt, partially why he finished with a +8 +/-.
There was even one sequence where a block from Tavares was quickly taken down to the other end for a dunk.
