Rodney Hood is a restricted free agent this offseason. With no reported offers, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a $3.4 million offer sheet. Signing that offer sheet might be the best idea for Hood’s long-term future.
The main reason behind that is if Hood signs the offer sheet that he’ll be able to play a season before committing to a multi-year deal.
Hood went from averaging 17 points per game in Utah to just 11 in Cleveland. Along with a postseason meltdown, Hood might get somewhere in the ballpark of $8 to $15 million. With the Cavaliers likely to match that offer, Hood should be able to wait, recoup his value, and sign for upwards of $18 million.
