The Cleveland Cavaliers used the eighth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft on University of Alabama point guard Collin Sexton. Sexton jumped to the NBA after just one, albeit very successful season; he had 19.2 points per game, with a 23.5 PER (according to Sports Reference).
Sexton came out of college with a reputation of that of a hard-nosed defender with an incredibly high motor. He also had question marks surrounding his playmaking and shooting abilities, from three-point range, in particular.
While he struggled mightily early in the 2018-19 season for Cleveland, he showed a ton of improvement after the All-Star break.
