CLEVELAND -- Chauncey Billups was offered the job to be the Cleveland Cavaliers' vice president of basketball operations, a new position overseeing the front office created by David Griffin's departure, but he has yet to accept.
Billups met with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the position.
A team source said Wednesday evening that no formal offer had been made, and that Gilbert's primary focus was on making trades Thursday, but two sources with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed that Billups was indeed offered the position.
