The Cavaliers released veteran Dahntay Jones on Saturday, two days before his $1.5 million contract for this season would have become guaranteed.
Jones made $8,000 after he was signed on the final day of the regular season, although he provided a spark off the bench in a pivotal Game 6 of the NBA Finals in the march to the Cavs’ championship. He also made headlines when he was suspended one game during the conference finals for punching Toronto Raptors center Bismack Biyombo in the crotch.
LeBron James, J.R. Smith and James Jones all remained unsigned.
