Cavs' center Edy Tavares fractures bone in right hand during practice

Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue knows his players are fighting boredom during a nine-day layoff before the start of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday.

But Lue said Saturday he will not scrimmage. That may have been a reaction to what happened Thursday, when center Edy Tavares suffered a fracture in his right hand during a pickup game before practice at Cleveland Clinic Courts.

The Cavs said Tavares is out indefinitely after an X-ray and CT scan confirmed the injury. Tavares has been inactive during the playoffs.

Tavares, 7-foot-3, was picked up from Raptors’ 905, Toronto’s D-League team on April 12.
