CLEVELAND: Cavaliers star LeBron James was watching on television Tuesday night when guard Isaiah Thomas scored 53 points on what would have been his sister’s 23rd birthday to lead the Boston Celtics to a 129-119 overtime victory over the Washington Wizards in TD Garden.
Thomas dedicated the game to Chyna, killed in a single-vehicle accident on April 15. He flew home to Tacoma, Wash., to attend her funeral Saturday.
Thomas, the shortest active player in the NBA at 5-9, scored 29 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as the Celtics took a 2-0 lead over the Wizards in the Eastern Conference semifinal series.
