DENVER: Nuggets coach Michael Malone had a front row seat to LeBron James’ greatness for five seasons as a Cavaliers’ assistant coach.
Considering what he saw in Cleveland from 2005-10, Malone isn’t amazed by James’ feats this season, when he is averaging 26.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists with 10 triple-doubles. But Malone has a deep appreciation for the four-time league MVP’s performance at age 32.
“The five years I was in Cleveland he was a great player then and if possible he’s even greater now,” Malone said after Wednesday morning’s shootaround at Pepsi Center. “The thing that’s remarkable is he’s having a career high in his assists per game.
