Cavaliers notebook: J.R. Smith and his wife, Shirley, finally able to bring daughter Dakota home after five months in hospital

CLEVELAND: One journey ended for Cavs guard J.R. Smith and his family and another began before game time Tuesday night.

Smith and his wife, Shirley, took their daughter, Dakota, home after more than five months in the hospital. Dakota was born in January, five months prematurely. Smith talked openly about what he and his family have gone through since Dakota’s birth and eagerly awaited the day when she would be allowed to come home from Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.

Jewel Smith expressed the anxiety any new parent does when bringing a child home for the first time.
