INDEPENDENCE: Kevin Love’s shoulder feels better. So does Kyrie Irving’s knee and Anderson Varejao’s heel. What hasn’t mended, however, is the distance between Tristan Thompson and the Cavaliers in a contract dispute that has dragged on for months.
Thompson was absent from the team’s media day on Monday because he is still without a contract. As a result, he’s off the roster, too. Michael Dunigan was a last-minute addition to the Cavs’ training camp roster because Thompson has yet to sign either his qualifying offer or a new contract extension.
The team will open practice on Tuesday with or without Thompson, but for those looking for a glimmer of hope regarding his future, perhaps LeBron James provided it.
