J.R. Smith opted out of a $6.4 million player option this summer, and the Cavaliers have given him a do-over after that dumb decision.
One of the dumbest decisions that was made over the summer was J.R. Smith opting out of a contract that would have paid him $6.4 million next season to try and get a better contract on the open market. That didn’t happen, and Smith sat for over a month without a new deal or so much as a decent offer.
Cleveland changed that over the weekend when they brought him back on a new deal, and it’s a true sign that everyone deserves to get a second chance even if they royally screwed themselves in the first place.
