In anticipation of the LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers victory celebration at Lock 3 in Akron Thursday night, the Beacon Journal and Ohio.com will be monitoring developments.
Here’s the latest updates:
8 p.m.: Early estimates suggest there are 20,000 people at the LeBron James event.
James Hardy, Akron’s chief of staff, told a reporter there are about 10,000 people in Lock 3, between 5,000 and 6,000 on Main Street and about 4,000 in Canal Park — which is about halfway full and people are still filtering in.
Very few arrests have been made at the event, Hardy said.
