As we have discussed here, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a guard surplus on their hands which makes them a little thin in the frontcourt. They decided to draft for talent instead of need in the draft and selected another guard, Vanderbilt product Darius Garland.
While new head coach John Beilein is a noted guard specialist, he has also sent six frontcourt players to the NBA since 2011, which is equal to the number of guards in that time frame.
Since 2011, the University of Michigan has had four frontcourt players go in the first round.
