Thompson is seeking a five-year, $94 million contract, but Cleveland has offered a five-year, $80 million contract, an increase from their original offer, according to the report. Both sides are remaining firm in their positions, for now.
James and Thompson have developed a close friendship through their agent, Rich Paul.
