Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt said that guard Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert are expected to make their season debuts at some point during Cleveland's two-game road trip this weekend.
"It's a day-to-day thing with both of them," Blatt said. "We kind of like to let them get through the practice then, the next morning, gauge how they're feeling. And then just go from there. But they both will be on the trip with us.
"We haven't rushed it with either one of them. I'd like to see them be able to come and play significant minutes or at least minutes that give them the chance to feel the court long enough to contribute or get something out of it."
Irving is recovering from a fractured kneecap he suffered in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, while Shumpert is recovering from offseason wrist surgery. Cleveland has posted an Eastern Conference-best 14-7 record so far this season despite missing both members of their starting backcourt for the first quarter of the season.
The Cavs face the Orlando Magic on Friday and the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.
Guard J.R. Smith is also questionable for Friday's game against the Magic after missing Thursday's practice due to an illness.
