Cleveland has an open roster spot after trading Chris Andersen to the Charlotte Hornets earlier this month, and LeBron James hasn't been shy about his desire for the team to add another playmaker.
The Cavs had been looking to trade for backup help, particularly a backup point guard, and Williams would certainly become one of the league's premier backups at the position.
Williams is averaging 13.1 points and 6.9 assists per game this year.
