Billups, a friend of owner Dan Gilbert, was the only one to have an interview for the job. It appears money was at least a partial factor in Billups' decision.

With Billups out of the running, it's unclear who the Cavs could hire. In the interim, assistant general manager Koby Altman will continue to serve as the top decision-maker in the front office.
