The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the Eastern Conference 10 games into the NBA season, and there are no signs that they're going to slow down anytime soon. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our Cavs Weekly update:
The Week That Was
Cleveland started the week off with an exciting 118-114 comeback victory over the Utah Jazz at home on Tuesday. They then extended their win streak to eight on Friday night against the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden, outscoring the Knicks 24-12 in the fourth quarter to once again pull out a comeback victory.
That win streak was snapped the next day in a double-overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on the road, dropping the Cavs to their current 8-2 mark.
LeBron James was the leading scoring in all three games, averaging 33 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this week. Kevin Love also averaged a double-double, putting up 17.7 points and 11 rebounds per game.
What's Next?
The Cavs have three more games this week, finishing up their three game road trip on Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons before returning home to face the Bucks on Thursday and Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. The game against the Hawks is the first rematch this season of last year's Eastern Conference Finals.
Injuries
Point guard Kyrie Irving is still out for the foreseeable future with a broken kneecap he suffered in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and though he has been cleared for contact and weight-bearing activites, he isn't expect to return until mid- to late-December.
As for shooting guard Iman Shumpert, he is wearing a splint on his injured wrist he suffered in the offseason, keeping him on pace to return to action in January.
