Cavs Weekly: Recapping Last Week's Games & Previewing The Week Ahead

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the midst of a five-game winning streak that has pushed them to 18-7 on the season and back into first place in the Eastern Conference. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our Cavs Weekly update:

Last Week:

The Cavs then hit the road on Tuesday night against the Celtics, knocking off Boston 89-77 in a rematch from last year's first round playoff series. Cleveland then returned home for a Thursday night showcase against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the first matchup of the season between LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Despite trailing for most of the game, Cleveland used a strong fourth-quarter to extend their winning streak with a 104-100 victory.

Today's game against the 1-28 Philadelphia 76ers wasn't much of a contest as Cleveland cruised to the blowout 108-86 victory. The big story from this game was that point guard Kyrie Irving scored 12 points in his season debut after having knee surgery to repair a fractured kneecap he suffered in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

What's Next?

Cleveland has off until Wednesday when they will host the New York Knicks, then start a four-game road trip with a game against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. They'll then play the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Injuries:

Point guard Mo Williams has missed two straight games with a thumb injury, but he is expected to return against the Knicks.

Irving will be brought along slowly as he recovers from his knee injury, but will remain in the starting lineup.

Shooting guard Iman Shumpert, who also made his season debut last week, played against the Sixers despite having a strained groin. He isn't expected to miss any more time with the injury.
