Cavs Weekly: Cleveland Starting To Right The Ship After Terrible Start

The Cleveland Cavaliers got off to a dreadful start to the season that caused many to wonder if their reign at the top of the Eastern Conference was already over. However, the Cavs have started to turn this thing around. Cleveland's defensive issues are still there but they're playing much better over the past week - and it's only a matter of time until this team starts playing up to their potential. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our Cavs Weekly update:

Standings:
It's obviously still very early, but the Cavs currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference at 7-7 - the only .500 team in the conference. However, they're only a game and half out of third place (Washington Wizards, 8-5), yet at the same time, are only a game ahead of 12th (Charlotte Hornets, 5-7). That's how crowded the middle of the East is.

This Week:
Cleveland kicked off a four-game road trip last week, starting with a TNT Thursday night game against the Houston Rockets. LeBron James (33 points) and Jeff Green (27 points) did all they could to try and carry the Cavs, but James Harden (35 points, 13 assists) led the Rockets to a 117-113 win.

The Cavs turned things around quickly by beating the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday before dropping 43 points in a stunning come-from-behind win over the New York Knicks on Monday. LeBron got into a heated scuffle with Enes Kanter in that game in the first half as New York built a 23-point lead before Cleveland's comeback.

What's Next?
The Cavs will wrap up their four-game road trip tonight against the Hornets before returning home on Friday to take on the Los Angeles Clippers. They'll have the weekend off before facing the Detroit Pistons on Monday and the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. Read more Cavs news in the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.

Injuries:
Point guard Isaiah Thomas remains out with the hip injury he suffered last season with the Boston Celtics, and the Cavs are hoping to have him back by January 1.

Derrick Rose will miss his fourth consecutive game on Wednesday against the Hornets with an ankle injury.
