It's been a week and a half since the Cleveland Cavaliers fired head coach David Blatt and replaced him with Tyronn Lue, and he's already implemented several changes in the way the Cavs play. Lue's main focus has been getting Cleveland to play at a faster pace - saying the Cavs need to get in better shape - and getting Kevin Love more involved, both of which have led to the Cavs' current five-game win streak. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our Cavs Weekly update:
Last Week:
Lue's first game as head coach came in the first ABC Saturday Night Primetime game of the season against the Chicago Bulls and the Cavs were throughly outplayed, losing 96-83 to Chicago.
Cleveland then wrapped up their four-game homestand by hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday and Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, both of which Cleveland won while averaging 114.5 points per game. Love also led the Cavs in field goal attempts against the Suns, marking the first time that's happened this year. The Cavs then had a quick one-game road trip to Detroit, where they won 114-106 led by Love's team-high 29 points.
However, their biggest test came Saturday night in another ABC primetime against the San Antonio Spurs. Many were expecting a close game, but Cleveland came out and dominated from the opening tip, cruising to a 117-103 win behind LeBron James' 29 points and seven assists.
Cleveland then capped off their win streak with a 111-106 overtime win over the Indiana Pacers, giving them their first win in Indianapolis since 2010.
What's Next?
The Cavs finish their short road trip against Hornets in Charlotte on Feb. 3. They then return home for a five-game homestand, staring with a playoff rematch against the Boston Celtics on Friday. Read more Cavs news in the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.
