All quiet on potential Joe Johnson trade to Cavs
Cleveland is contemplating a trade for Brooklyn Nets swingman Joe Johnson, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst. The Nets are actively looking to unload Johnson's contract, which will pay him $24.8 million this season in the final year of his deal.
In order to make the numbers work, the Cavs are using Brandan Haywood's $10.5 million unguaranteed contract. However, the talks have yet to develop into anything substantial, according to Sports Illustrated.
Johnson averaged 14.4 points on 44 percent shooting last season, and would give the Cavs another wing scorer and physical defender while giving Brooklyn some much-needed cap relief.
Brooklyn also interested in acquiring Sasha Kaun from Cavs
The Nets have also talked to the Cavs about acquiring big man Sasha Kaun, according to Sports Illustrated. The 30-year old Russian center is interested in playing in the NBA next season, but Cleveland owns Kaun’s rights and doesn't have room for him on their roster.
Free agent G Mo Williams reaches deal with Cavs
Free agent point guard Mo Williams is on his way back to the Cleveland Cavs, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:
The agreement is for two years at $4.3 million, including a player option. He reportedly mulled over deals with San Antonio, Dallas and New Orleans before deciding on a reunion with LeBron James and the Cavs.
Williams played parts of three seasons with the Cavs from 2008-11 before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of the deal that brought Baron Davis to Cleveland. The lone All-Star appearance of his 12-year career came in 2008-09 with the Cavs -- a season where he averaged 15.8 points and 5.3 assists per game.
