Our nation's birthday brings with it the news that LaMarcus Aldridge is taking his talents to San Antonio, but there's plenty of other intrigue to be had -- ESPECIALLY surrounding the Cleveland Cavs. Here's our Cavs Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 4th.
LeBron James, Cavs Not Talking Yet
Per ESPN's Brian Windhorst:
"The Cleveland Cavaliers are busy on several fronts as they attempt to solidify their roster. But for the moment that does not include talks with free agent LeBron James, sources told ESPN.com.
"James' agent Rich Paul has made it known to the Cavs that serious talks on a new deal for James will not take place until a new contract for restricted free agent Tristan Thompson is in place. Paul also represents Thompson. James intends to re-sign with the Cavs, sources said, but is not in a hurry."
Several media outlets reported earlier in the week that the Cavs had come to terms with Thompson on a blockbuster multi-year deal, but talks have now reportedly stalled without an official agreement in place.
Stay tuned.
Spurs, Cavs Targeting David West
After opting out of his $12 million player option for the 2015-16 season, former Indiana Pacers forward David West has caught the eyes of several championship contenders on the lookout for veteran depth, including the San Antonio Spurs.
You can add the Cavs to that list.
Per Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star:
I'm hearing the Cleveland Cavaliers have "huge interest" in David West. Most definitely aligns with his desire to play for a contender

West averaged 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 28.7 minutes per contest for the Pacers last season, while providing valuable leadership for a team besieged by injuries.
