Cleveland has been looking to add backcourt depth, and with J.R. Smith out for another three months with a thumb injury, Korver is expected to take over his starting shooting guard spot.
Korver's role was diminishing in Atlanta, where he has started 21 of 32 games this season after starting every game he played in since the start of the 2013-14 season. He is also playing his fewest minutes per game since joining the Hawks in 2012.
Atlanta has been rumored to be interested in trading some of their core pieces after losing Al Horford and Jeff Teague this offseason, and have reportedly been taking offers for All-Star forward Paul Millsap as well.
Korver is averaging 9.5 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from three-point range.
