This Cleveland Cavaliers team is trying to win the franchise's first NBA championship behind superstar LeBron James, but how do they stack up with the best Cavs teams of all time?
5) 1975-76 - 49-33
Austin Carr led Cleveland all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals in the franchise's sixth season, beating a tough Washington Bullets team in seven games in the first round. However, they ran into the Boston Celtics, who beat the Cavs in six games to keep them out of the Finals.
4) 2006-07 - 50-32
This is the only Cavaliers team that has made it to the NBA Finals in franchise history, earning them a spot on this list. LeBron James was already a great player, but his supporting cast wasn't ready for the moment as they were extremely overwhelmed by the San Antonio Spurs, who swept the Cavs easily.
3) 2014-15 - ?
The current squad certainly has the most overall talent the Cavaliers have ever had, but they only rank third on this list because they haven't proved anything yet. They'll take over the top spot on the list if they meet expectations and win the Eastern Conference. LeBron, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving have this team playing like a championship contender, but they need to show they can maintain that level of play.
2) 1991-92 - 57-25
Cavaliers legends Mark Price and Brad Daugherty led Cleveland to the NBA's second-best record that season, and pulled an upset over Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics in the conference semifinals, winning in seven games. Unfortunately, they ran into Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, who beat the Cavs in six games on their way to their second straight championship.
1) 2008-09 - 66-16
The Cavaliers team that wasn't ready in 2007 looked primed to finally bring that title to Cleveland in 2009. LeBron was entering his prime (28.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 7.4 apg), and Mo Williams (17.8 ppg, 4.1 apg), Anderson Varejao, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (12.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg) led the best supporting cast the Cavs had for James prior to this year. They cruised through the regular season - posting the 10th-best record in NBA history - but after head coach Mike Brown changed up his rotation in the playoffs, they were upset by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals.
