Cleveland and Golden State both came to play in this potential Finals preview, providing fans with a high-scoring display right from the start. The Cavs were able to take a slight 61-56 lead into halftime, but built a comfortable cushion thanks to a big run in the third quarter and help off the Warriors in the fourth to grab the win.
Turning Point:
Cleveland opened the third quarter on a 16-3 run that turned their slim halftime lead into a sizable cushion, and Golden State was never able to really threaten the Cavs again.
Key Stat:
The Cavs made it a point to be aggressive on offense, and it showed by how many times they got to the free throw line. They made 29 of a remarkable 35 attempts (82.9%) from the stripe on the game, a vast difference from Golden State's 10/19 (52.9%) free throw shooting.
Cleveland MVP:
LeBron James put on a special performance tonight, scoring 42 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists. The Warriors threw several different defenses at him, but nothing slowed him down.
Kyrie Irving also played well as he finished with 24 points.
Golden State MVP:
David Lee gave the Warriors a huge lift off the bench, scoring 19 points in just 21 minutes. Unfortunately, he didn't get much help from Golden State's All-Stars as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for just 31 points on 10/30 shooting.
What’s Next?
Cleveland will travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers tomorrow night, while Golden State continues their road trip against the Raptors tomorrow.
