Both the Cavs and Pistons came out swinging, but Detroit was able to grab the early advantage thanks to a second quarter run and took a 62-53 lead into halftime. Cleveland responded with a strong third quarter on both ends of the floor, and carried that momentum to the fourth quarter where they pulled away.
Turning Point:
Detroit scored the first two baskets of the second half to take a 14-point lead, but the Cavs responded with a huge 20-3 run to retake the lead. The Pistons would never lead again.
Key Stat:
The Pistons had an offensive explosion in the first half, but this game changed when Cleveland's defense stepped up. They held Detroit to just 31 points for the entire second half, allowing them to take over the game and grab the victory.
Cleveland MVP:
Kevin Love absolutely dominated the game from the outside, scoring 24 points on 8/14 shooting from long range while also grabbing nine rebounds. LeBron James also had a good all-around game, recording 19 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists.
Detroit MVP:
Reggie Jackson showed why the Pistons traded for him, notching 22 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also continued his hot streak, dropping 21 points and shooting 5/7 from behind the arc.
