Cleveland came out strong looking to make a statement in this game against one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and led 52-41 at the half as a result. Memphis fought back to make a game of it in the second half, but the Cavs pulled away in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Turning Point:
After Memphis cut Cleveland's lead to five at the start of the fourth quarter, the Cavs went on an 8-0 run to regain a comfortable lead. They later went on a 13-4 run to really put the game away.
Key Stat:
Memphis made only one three in this game on 16 attempts, which amounts to only six percent (!!!!!) from beyond the arc. Cleveland was able to pack the paint on defense because of how ineffective the Grizzlies were from the perimeter, making them much easier to guard.
Cleveland MVP:
LeBron James has another great game distributing the ball in this one, finishing with 25 points and 11 assists. Anderson Varejao also had a great game with Zach Randolph out with a knee injury, finishing with 18 points and seven rebounds. Kyrie Irving played a major role in the victory as well, scoring 17 points and dishing out 12 assists.
Memphis MVP:
Center Marc Gasol absolutely dominated this game for the Grizzlies, but didn't get a lot of help at the offensive end. He finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
