Both the Cavs and the Knicks came out strong, but New York used a strong second quarter to take a 53-50 lead into halftime. They maintained the lead until Cleveland went on a run in the fourth to grab the lead, and held on for the victory.
Turning Point:
Trailing 85-83 late in the fourth quarter, LeBron James finally hit his first three of the game to give the Cavs their first lead since the first quarter. That was part of a 7-0 run, and Cleveland never gave the lead back to the Knicks.
Key Stat:
Cleveland continued their efficient offensive play, and shot 45.7 percent from the floor in this game. That, couple with the fact that they forced 21 turnovers, are why they were able to come away with the close victory.
Cleveland MVP:
Kyrie Irving was Cleveland's most consistent scoring option all night long, and he finished with 37 points. LeBron also had a decent game with 19 points and 12 assists.
New York MVP:
Tim Hardaway, Jr., came off the bench to give the Knicks the lift they needed, dropping 20 points on 8/14 shooting (4/8 from long range).
What’s Next?
Cleveland will travel to Toronto to face the Raptors on Friday night, while New York hits the road to face the Hornets in Charlotte.
