Cleveland was able to open up a 19-point lead in the first half, but Miami fought back at the end of the second quarter to cut the Cavs' halftime lead to 61-50. However, the Cavaliers were able to pull away in the second half and turn this one back into a blowout.
Turning Point:
Miami was managing to keep the game close in the second half, but the Cavs went on an 8-0 run to close out the third quarter that turned this one into a blowout.
Key Stat:
Cleveland's strength was their defense tonight as they forced Miami into 16 turnovers, which the Cavs were able to convert into 23 easy points.
Cleveland MVP:
Kyrie Irving led the Cavs with 23 points, and LeBron James pitched in with 23 points, seven assists and eight rebounds. Iman Shumpert also provided a big spark off the bench with 17 points in 7/12 shooting.
Miami MVP:
Dwyane Wade missed the entire second half with a bruised knee, but Luol Deng did all he could to pick up the slack, dropping 17 points while grabbing eight rebounds.
What’s Next?
Cleveland will host the Chicago Bulls on Monday, while Miami will travel to take on the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
