Cleveland and Chicago played a fairly even first quarter, but the Bulls went cold from the field, allowing the Cavs to take a 54-39 halftime lead. Cleveland then extended the lead with a big third quarter and were able to come away with the easy victory.
Turning Point:
The Cavs started the second half on a 10-2 run, which turned this game into a blowout. Chicago never got closer than 12 from that point on, allowing Cleveland to cruise for the easy victory.
Key Stat:
The Cavs absolutely dominated this game inside, which was unexpected against this physical Bulls team. They outrebounded Chicago 54-40 and outscored them 46-30 in the paint, showing how they were able to control this one.
Cleveland MVP:
All five of Cleveland's had excellent games, and all scored 15+ points on the night as they had their way with the Bulls. Kyrie Irving (18 points, 11 assists), Kevin Love (16 points, 12 rebounds) and Timofey Mozgov (15 points, 15 rebounds) all had double-doubles, while J.R. Smith (20 points, 6/9 from long range) and LeBron James (26 points, five rebounds, four assists) also played well.
Chicago MVP:
Jimmy Butler was the only Bulls player who really played anything resembling a good game, dropping 20 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
What’s Next?
Cleveland will host the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, while Chicago returns home to face the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.
