Both sides had already secured their playoff seeding (Cleveland at No. 2, Washington at No. 5) coming into this one, meaning starters saw extremely limited minutes or didn't play at all.
The Wizards looked like the stronger team in the first half as they led 56-53 at the break, but the Cavaliers fought back with a big fourth quarter to force overtime. Backup point guard Matthew Dellavedova took over the game for the Cavs in the extra frame, making the plays he needed to down the stretch to give Cleveland the victory.
Cleveland MVP:
Cleveland sat LeBron James out of this one and didn't play a single starter over 18 minutes, allowing the bench to play big minutes. Iman Shumpert took advantage, scoring 18 points and grabbing six rebounds. Matthew Dellavedova also put up a big double-double with 18 points and 12 assists.
Washington MVP:
Washington sat all of their starters (other than Marcin Gortat, who played 14 minutes), and that allowed Rasaul Butler to score 17 points in extended minutes. Martell Webster also came off the bench to drop 20 points.
What’s Next?
Cleveland will host the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, while Washington will face the Toronto Raptors in the first round.
