The Cleveland Cavs are well aware of what they have in star guard Kyrie Irving talent-wise, and now are getting a full glimpse into some of his leadership capabilities as well.
In an article by Bob Finnan of The Morning Journal, Kyrie Irving opened up about how he has been feeling since the Cleveland Cavs were eliminated from playoff contention on April 9th: “It’s difficult because I feel like it definitely has a little bit of hangover, especially when it gets to near the end of the season,” Irving states in the piece.
“I know it did for me. Just being disappointed in not being able to get a taste of playoffs in my third year. It’s more or less a pride thing, but we’re professionals and we’ve just got to pick ourselves up and play this last game as hard as we can and finish the season strong, like we preached.”
The Cleveland Cavs have been quite perplexing as of late, losing back-to-back contests against the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics -- two teams entrenched at the bottom of the NBA Eastern Conference standings.
Despite how tough things have been lately and all season for the Cleveland Cavs, Irving remains optimistic about things: “We’re all prideful guys, and it’s disappointing that we didn’t make the playoffs,” he stated.
“I know it’s hanging over our heads. But as professionals, as I previously said, we’ve just got to go out there and play. We get to wake up every single morning and play the game that we love for a couple more times in these next three days.
