Per sources close to ESPN.com, the Cleveland Cavs have reached out to Florida Gators head coach Billy Donovan in regards to their head coaching vacancy.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports that "Donovan said Thursday that several NBA teams had called him about openings in recent days but that he still plans to be with the Gators next season."
While Donovan declined to mention which NBA teams had contacted him, the Cavs are evidently one of them. However, Donovan doesn't seem to be too interested in making the jump at this time:
"I have spoken to a couple NBA teams, and that's all I'm going to say," Donovan stated. "It's always flattering, but at the same time, I've always said that I'm very happy here and like it here."
The Cavs have been attacking their coaching search with renewed vigor since picking up the first overall pick in Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery. The Cavs have reportedly also gauged the interest of Michigan State's Tom Izzo and Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg about the position, with several other names assuredly to come as their interview process intensifies.
