The Luol Deng-era in Cleveland may be over before it really ever began.
Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer believes that Deng "won't be back," leading to speculation as to both why things didn't work and where the Cavs are looking to go from here:
"My sense is Deng would prefer to be on a more mature team that is ready to win," Pluto writes in an article posted on Sunday. "Furthermore, the Cavs are concerned about his back, legs and general physical condition after 10 years in the league."
Pluto also asserts that "they will shop for another veteran small forward via trade or free agency," and may be willing to pull off a "draft-day trade" in order to do so.
The Cleveland Cavs haven't made any assertions one way or the other on a potential push to retain Deng, preferring to keep all options open as the free agent market fleshes itself out in the next few months.
