In tonight's look into Cavs rumors, the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly one of several teams who will be courting Washington Wizard free agent Trevor Ariza when free agency begins at 12:01am EST on Tuesday.
According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, "Ariza views the Wizards as the frontrunner, but is also expected to receive interest from Cleveland, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit, Houston, Phoenix and Miami, sources said. The 10-year NBA veteran is expected to talk to the other interested teams over the phone."
Despite the Cavs presenting an attractive young roster with a high ceiling, the Washington Wizards are expected to be majorly interested in retaining the dynamic forward.
"The message to Trevor will be that the Wizards strongly want him back," a source said.
Ariza averaged 14.4 points and a career-best 6.2 rebounds per game in 2013-14. He also shot a career-high 40.7 percent from 3-point range and could provide a veteran threat to the Cavs both around the perimeter and down low.
