The Cleveland Cavaliers are still celebrating their first NBA championship, but the front office is looking to free agency for ways they can continue to improve. Here are three free agents they could target this offseason to help the Cavs repeat as champs:
3) Mario Chalmers
Cleveland is expected to let Matthew Dellavedova walk in free agency this summer, and if that's the case, Chalmers is someone who could compete for the backup point guard role with Mo Williams. After a bad 2014-15 season (and first six games of 2015-16) in Miami, Chalmers had the best season of his career in Memphis, putting up 10.8 points and 3.8 assists per game off the bench for the Grizzlies until he got hurt.
2) David West
West took a MASSIVE paycut to accept a bench role and chase a title with the Spurs last season, so why would he not do the same with the Cavs? On top of providing this team with another veteran leader, he's a physical rebounder with a reliable mid-range jumper.
1) J.R. Smith
The man who doesn't need a shirt has said that he will decline his player option to become a free agent this offseason, but Cleveland would be very smart to do everything they can to bring him back. He gives them a lethal shooter capable of catching fire at anytime, and is the perfect guy to be on the receiving end of LeBron James' drive-and-kick passes. It'll be a shock if Cleveland lets him get away.
