BEREA, Ohio -- Sashi Brown's plan was destined to fail because he left out one key component in the organizational flow chart: a member of the executive team who had experience in building a winning NFL roster.

Analytics wasn't the problem. Every team in the NFL relies on the numbers game to some degree.

Even the fact that Brown wanted to be analytics-heavy wasn't the issue. It's silly to think anyone in this day and age is analytics-adverse.

This is not new school vs. old school.

The problem was that Brown tried to outthink the rest of the NFL and assemble an executive team devoid of someone who actually had a track record of success in this business.
